Nike+: Too bad it doesn't work or tell me how to fix it

This "searching" image below could have been so boring! But no, Nike wouldn't have it that way. Instead we see a pulsing Nike+ searching for the real Nike+ unit on my shoe.

I walked in small circles watching this image for ten minutes before I gave up and put my iPhone and armband in the car. I did my run and bought a $10 digital watch at Target. No functional Nike+ for me. Le Sigh.

A quick look at the nike store site and you'll see they keep things slick. Well if you're going to fail...at least be cute about it? No! Tell me what could be wrong! Am I low on batteries? Does my shoe cover up the RFID? Or simply, how do I get my money back? Please tell me something within my power so that I can use or quit your product.
